3 C’S

Als je een veilige basis hebt, dwalen je gedachten niet af, maar ben je in het hier en nu. Je bent Centered. Je ziet en ervaart wat er gebeurt, maar zonder te oordelen. Je ontkent niets en duwt ook niets weg, of het nu onaangenaam is of niet. Je bent Connected, en dat zorgt voor rust en stabiliteit in het lijf. Daardoor kun je openstaan voor gevoelens van jezelf én anderen. Je ziet je gedachten en wensen helder en kunt ze goed verwoorden: je bent Clear. En je kunt creatief omgaan met veranderingen. In de samenleving, maar ook in je leven!

Centered, Connected, Clear

If you have a safe base, the body responds by relaxing. The nervous system is in the ‘green zone’. In that zone you are Centered, Connected and Clear.

Centered
The first step is standing still. Take a break from what you’re doing. Turn off the autopilot. Stop running and going round in vicious circles. Observe what happens, what you’re doing and, what you’re thinking. What do you feel? Now you are Centered. Centered means: ‘anchored in the body’. You notice the body sensations, thoughts and feelings (about yourself or another person) (of yourself without identifying with them or automatically reacting to them. This creates space to choose your response that fits the moment.

Connected
When you turn your attention inwards and outwards, you notice that there are constantly different body sensations, feelings and thoughts. They form an automatic response to signals from the inner and outer world. Sometimes those experiences are pleasant, sometimes neutral—and sometimes unpleasant. You cannot control them; after all, the nervous system reacts automatically. From your safe base, the ‘green zone’, you take the second step. You don’t run and you don’t fight. You are not overwhelmed by it, but embrace the experience. You are Connected. You stay connected to yourself and the others.

Clear
Now that you are Connected, you can also consciously communicate with the outside world. You don’t feel attacked, and you don’t get carried away by critical voices telling you that you don’t live up to expectations. You dare to follow your own path, and you can separate emotion from facts. You can clearly formulate what your wishes and desires are, and what you find really important. You are Clear & Creative.

Secure Base Model

The Secure Base model, the secure base itself with its three qualities: Centered, Connected, Clear, is central. Each Secure Base training helps you (to) develop and promote these three qualities, the 3 C’s, whereas the emphasis might be sometimes (more) on one quality, and other times  (more) on (the) another.

In the training you will learn how to tolerate and regulate even the most difficult feelings without being overwhelmed by them. This will change your view of yourself, of the others and of the world. Many participants also discover that this process can also help them in connecting with eachother. This way you break through the feeling of being alone and isolated, and you feel more connected.
